Romania is slowly discovering the need to use ANPR for advance intelligence gathering from the traffic. There are quite a few projects on the brink of being launched that includes ANPR systems. Among these I would mention just 2: The full coverage of all ins and outs of Bucharest (over 70 cameras), a complete coverage of the busiest road in Romania DN1 (up to 20 cameras). Also portable systems are taken into consideration. Even access control for Police HQ (2 of the buildings are fully operational in regards to ANPR access control).
